What’s Next for TrueBlood?

***MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!! DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN NEXT WEEK’S TRUEBLOOD SEASON FINALE!!! ENJOY THE VIDEO ABOVE INSTEAD AND SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!!!***

Can Sookie love Bill or Eric after everything or is Alcide the safer choice or should she just try being single for a while?

Can Sookie love Bill or Eric after everything or is Alcide the safer choice or should she just try being single for a while?

Well I don’t know for sure, but I guess you know what I’m hoping to see. I mean, Sookie can’t stay with Bill forever, can she?

Word on the street is that Russell Edginton will be back next season, although it won’t be until late in the season. Eric, Alcide and Jesus will return, as will Tommy and Holly. It seems the witches will hold sway in Bon Temps next season. And what will Sookie do now that every vampire she knows has betrayed her? Maybe she’ll try to find out more about what she is and those like her, fairy and telepath alike. So perhaps we’ll be seeing more fairies as well. And maybe Eric will have some stiff competition in Alcide, and I’ll have to wait another whole season before I get my Sookie and Eric love arc.

Anyway, I’m getting way ahead of myself. Season four is a long time away and next week seems like it will take forever to get here. So, for those of you just dying for a glimpse of what is to come here’s a few tidbits.

Waiting sucks!

Waiting sucks!

Sookie is sick of being on the vampire menu like she’s some sort of delicacy. She’s also sick of vampires. Eric feels pangs of conscience about his revenge plot. Tara goes deeper into Sam, and Sam (predictably) loses it after finding out about Tommy’s retaliation. Jason helps Crystal with the raid on her family. Lafayette seeks out Jesus’ help and discovers he just may need him more than he thought. Hoyt refuses to marry Summer despite the pleas of his interfering mother; and why wouldn’t he refuse when he’s madly inlove with Jessica and they want to be together? Wouldn’t you rather be with a vampire?

~P.S.~ Is that Godric I see?

TrueBlood “Fresh Blood” Recap: It’s Getting Dramatic Now!

Eric Confronts Russell

Eric Confronts Russell

Only one more episode left Trubies! Ack! I wish it weren’t so!

Tonight’s episode of TrueBlood was a fanging good one. Sookie manages to escape from Eric’s cellar thanks to the pissed off Yvetta the cardiologist. (That was funny! Lol!) Bill predictably had showed up like clockwork during this little rescue but was dealing with Pam and her colloidal silver spray. (Now, I originally thought she was going to spray him with garlic. How inventive to find another use for this uber tonic. Now every time I open my fridge and take out my silver, I am going to think of Pam.) Pam is spraying Bill in the face every chance she gets when Sookie, armed with silver chains, and Yvetta arrive upstairs during the brawl, and between the three of them they manage to overpower Pam and restrain her. Sookie and Bill take off and leave Pam with Yvetta; and we know Yvetta is going to head for the hills with some plunder once she’s certain Pam won’t be able to get away. Poor Yvetta. Doesn’t she know that Eric can find her or get Pam to find her? Would you betray a vampire? We all know that vampires never forget and rarely, if ever, forgive.

Sookie and Bill_A Snake In the Garden of Eden_TrueBlood

Sookie and Bill_A Snake In the Garden of Eden_TrueBlood

Just before the fight was on between Pam and Bill, Pam took the time to lay some heavy seeds of doubt in Bill’s mind about Sookie’s love for him and her feelings for Eric. Ever loyal to Eric, Pam hints that Sookie may be tired of Bill. She has found the chink in Bill’s armor, because he is already worried that Sookie may be falling under Eric’s spell, and he has for some time. I think he even believes it is inevitable. And things between him and Sookie aren’t exactly solid right now. Too bad Sookie wasn’t upstairs to hear what Bill said in answer to Pam. Maybe it would have put all of Sookie’s doubts about Bill to rest.

Jesus is fast on his way to becoming hooked on V after only one try. He certainly was sounding like an addict and La La certainly did look wearied by Jesus’ pleas to give it another go. Lafayette, of course, knows only too well the siren call of the V. How many times has he heard people jonesing for it? Now Jesus too? I’d get sick of it, too. Just as Jesus seems to be breaking Lafayette down with his pretty pleas, Lafayette gets a nasty V “aftershock” and sees a hideously frightening mask on Jesus’ face coming at him. Is Lafayette seeing the REAL Jesus? Well, freaked out, he asks Jesus to leave, listening to some gut instinct for survival. Being chained up in a basement waiting for a vampire to feed on you for dinner and escaping will hone your survival skills for sure. And in Bon Temps, you should listen to your gut. Jesus leaves, but he isn’t happy about it. And even once Jesus is gone, Lafayette is having bad hallucinations. I have a strange sense of foreboding, and obviously so does La La.

Crystal has managed to blow Jason’s boggled mind in a big way. After everything, now he’s got to try and wrap his head around the fact that the woman he loves is a werepanther. He thought it was just drugs, and he’s dealing with angry and disappointed vampires, and he’s also looking for his missing sister. It is not a good day to reveal you are a werepanther.  So he takes off to clear his mind, leaving Crystal at his place. Now, I sympathize with Crystal’s crap situation. Being forced to marry your half brother to continue the bloodlines? To have your only purpose in life to be a brood mare? Not appetizing in the least. However, I still say she is bad news. But, Jason loves her. He returns and professes his love quite clearly, trying to reassure Crystal and prevent her from leaving. And of course, true to form, Crystal grabs her opportunity to get Jason to accompany her to Hotshot to save the werepanther kids from the DEA raid. As much as Crystal wants a taste of the outside, she can’t leave her roots behind.

Jessica_I drink human blood.

Jessica_Flaws and All

Hoyt and Jessica are reaffirming their love for each other. They are finally speaking openly and honestly with one another. Jessica even goes so far as to admit that she accidentally killed the trucker. She also admits to liking feeding on humans and that she can’t survive on Tru Blood. She basically lays all her cards on the table, laying bare the awful truth of her vampire nature and daring Hoyt to still admit to loving her, flaws and all. After taking a moment to digest this info, Hoyt reaffirms his love and devotion. Crossing the last barrier, he invites Jessica to bite him. And that is an invitation that Jessica is only too eager to accept; to both their delight and pleasure. But how long will they be happy or safe? Mrs. Fortenberry had been scheming with Summer to keep Hoyt away from Jessica. Or should I say she schemed and used Summer as part of her scheme? I knew Mrs.F wouldn’t give up Hoyt that easily. Whatever happens, Hoyt will never forgive his mother when he finds out.

Eric has tracked down Russell at a museum where he is reminiscing about Talbot and holding his loverboy’s ashes while gazing at a painting, and a dead securityguard lays on the floor. In a bid to forestall his own death (and maybe that of others?) Eric tempts Russell with the ultimate vampire dreamdaywalking. And Russell is tempted. So tempted that he postpones killing Eric so Eric can show him the veracity of the fairy tale he is spinning. This news is the only news that would make Russell give Eric a reprieve on the true death. There is nothing else that would make Russell delay killing Eric. Even Russell had to admit that Eric was a clever boy. Pam takes that moment to call while being freed from the silver chains by Ginger, telling Eric that Sookie and Bill escaped and Yvetta absconded with the cash.

Tara visits Eggs’ grave all alone in the dark of night. I think Tara’s grief, and the trauma she suffered at the hands of Franklin is slowly driving her insane. When she confronts Andy at Merlotte’s, she does it with a stone cold disgust, and Andy definitely crumbles under her righteous and justified scrutiny. When Andy tells his version of events of Eggs’ death, she becomes eerily silent. I wonder what she was thinking at that moment. It just seems that she took Andy’s explanation too easily.

Sam is going through his own Greek tragedy and shows up at Merlotte’s raging drunk, screaming for whiskey, hurling obscenities at everyone and burning bridges left, right and center. After the mean things he says to Terry (poor Terry), Arlene and just about everyone else in his bar, he will sorely regret it when he’s sober. Or maybe not. Maybe he’s just tired of being a nice guy. Offended, Arlene and Holly leave, and Sam is put in the proverbial doghouse and left to wait tables and bus them himself. He even turns on Tommy, telling Tommy to beat it, and you could tell by the look on Tommy’s face that he was really hurt. He had really come to trust Sam, and Sam betrayed that trust with his drunken tirade. I certainly didn’t expect that nasty outburst from Sam. It was sad. But, Tommy is going to get even and hit Sam where it hurts the most — Sam’s wallet. Or should I say, Sam’s safe; and we all know what happens to people who mess with Sam’s money. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you in retaliation. The only one immune to Sam’s vitriol is Tara. They end up drinking together alone in Merlotte’s, commiserating and finding some comfort from their demons. It’s not too long before they end up in bed together. Will they regret it in the morning?

Holly and Arlene move forward with their solution to Arlene’s pregnancy. The ritual requires a decoction with a drop of Arlene’s blood be drank. Though Arlene is hopeful, Holly offers no guarantee that it will work. Later that night it seems that Arlene has lost the baby, and she must feign disappointment infront of a distraught Terry. They go off to the hospital and Terry is overjoyed to hear the news that the baby is just fine. Arlene isn’t happy at all.

When Jason left Crystal to clear his head, he headed over to the school football field, a place of happier times. Unfortunately, his nemesis Kitch is there practicing. As Jason watches, he realizes that Kitch is on V and threatens to expose him. Kitch laughs it off, telling a dismayed Jason that everyone knows about it already and condones it. Kitch leaves, taunting Jason about beating his record. Jason is left frustrated because even if he could prove that Kitch is on V, would the truth matter? This is just not Jason’s night, is it? So it isn’t too much of a stretch to think he needs to find something that he can do that will make him feel worthy. Crystal couldn’t have picked a better time to convince him to go to Hotshot with her.

Eric has waited a thousand years for vengeance.

Eric has waited a thousand years for vengeance.

As Bill and Sookie are driving, Bill questions Sookie as to why she went to see Eric. Sookie is vague and Bill just spits it out, questioning her on her feelings for Eric. Sookie deflects and turns the tables, bringing it down to the question of trust, but it is obvious that she isn’t telling Bill the whole truth. She probably doesn’t even want to admit it to herself, but Eric is coming between them. She still loves Bill, but is she still inlove with him? Or is there just too much between them now? She is tired of the drama though, so Bill jumps on the chance to spin dreams of a fresh start and a happy life. Sadly, they are dreaming of a life that isn’t theirs; and just when they get caught up in the happiness of what could be, WHAM! Russell and Eric appear out of no where and Russell stops the car with one hand. All four of them arrive at Fangtasia in Sookie’s little car. Russell ushers Sookie inside, an arm around her shoulders. Eric tells Bill to hit him and a mock battle ensues in the parking lot, giving Eric the chance to tell Bill that he has a plan. All Bill cares about is whether or not Eric’s plan will save Sookie. At this point, Bill has no choice but to trust Eric and go along with the plan, no matter his misgivings.

Once inside, Eric puts the plan into action, and Sookie is horrified to discover that her blood is like a “supernatural sunscreen” for vampires. It takes a nanosecond for her to realize that she is going to be bitten and no one is going to stop it. Not Bill, not Eric, not Pam, no one.

Now that we know that Sookie is a human-fairy hybrid, we only fully realize the extent of her allure by Russell’s enthusiastic reaction to the news. After all his 3000 years, he had never seen a fairy; and that can only be because he is so thoroughly evil and the fairies can probably sense his darkness from miles away. How clever they were to hide Sookie right in the midst of all the supes; which is thanks to her mortal blood. However, the fairy in her is strong, which is why she is so delicious and intoxicating. It is also why if a vampire drinks her blood, said vampire will be able to walk in sunlight. Bill did it. And Eric plans on doing it. And Eric knows that Russell wants it, too.

We finally see what Eric’s plan was and that he is willing to use anyone to have his vengeance. You’ve got to give him points for craftiness though. Though his plan is risky, he has found a way to save everyone from Russell in one fell swoop. Let’s hope that Russell will burn much much quicker than Eric so Pam will have time to save him. We all know that Pam isn’t going to untie Bill. Maybe Eric will give Sookie more of his blood to revive her and when she wakes, everything will be Bill’s fault, and she will be even more enamored of Eric — and more closely bound. And even though Bill gave up the truth of her blood to Russell, playing right along with Eric — and right into his hands (remember Eric’s scheme to completely undermine Sookie’s trust in Bill?) — in a bid to protect Sookie and save her life, the fact remains that he omitted the truth from her. And that is tantamount to lying. It is so over for Bill and Sookie now. She also told Bill she hated him. I realize it was in anger and she proclaimed to hate them all, but once you say those words to your lover…Well, there really is no going back, is there? Even though Bill only went along with the plan to save Sookie’s life, she watched him with accusing eyes the whole time Russell and Eric were feeding on her. You just can’t recover from some things.

Despite Eric’s devious machinations, there were moments when his tenderness and affection were clearly evident. He and Pam shared a tender moment of goodbye. It is probably one of the few moments we may ever see the softer side of Pam. The blood tears in her eyes are tears we will only ever see her shed for Eric, and Eric isn’t immune to them, kissing her forehead tenderly.  His feelings for Sookie were written all over his face and so obvious in his gentle caressing of her cheek that it makes one wonder if he is actually in love with her. (Has Eric finally found true love after a thousand years?) Even Russell must have seen the hesitation, and having no sentiment for humans of any sort, he hustled things along by grabbing Sookie by the wrist and taking a bite out of her. Not wanting Russell to get too much of a head fang on him, Eric sank his fangs into her neck as Sookie screamed, horrified and unable to save herself.

Bill risks all to save Sookie_Even losing her.

Bill risks all to save Sookie_Even losing her.

Bill can only sit by helplessly squirming and unable to do anything about it, and we all know he is fuming that these other vampires — one of them his acknowledged rival — are violating the vampire code. How many times have we heard him say that Sookie is his? Now he must sit and watch  as others ravenously feast on her for no other reason than vengeance and the mad desire to rule the world. How Bill must wish they could go back to the pre-Mississippi days. Even though he agreed to this, knew it would happen, seeing Sookie put in that position is killing Bill.

All things end even the immortal.

All things end even the immortal.

Eric walks outside into the daylight as Pam and Russell watch avidly, the sight of a fellow vampire walking in the sun bringing tears of joy to their eyes. And Eric is clearly overjoyed to feel the warmth of the sun on his skin, to hear the song of birds on a bright and beautiful morning. Though it is delayed, he does start to smolder slightly, wisps of smoke rising from his skin. His back to the camera outside Fangtasia, he offers up a silent Viking prayer that Russell won’t see it. He needs Russell to believe Sookie’s blood works as protection from the sun long enough to lure Russell outside. Filled with euphoria, Russell does emerge from the dark of Fangtasia and into the sun. He is lost in wonderment, and when Eric turns to face him to reveal his burning flesh, Russell can’t react swiftly enough to stop Eric. Eric clamps handcuffs on their wrists, joining them, stating how they will die together. Kneeling on the pavement, Eric says to a roaring Russell to be brave, while inside Bill is pleading with Pam to release him so he can feed Sookie who is laying lifeless on a table.

So now both Eric and Russell are going to burn. I know Russell is older, but will Eric outlast Russell long enough to be saved? Or will he meet his true death? Well, at least he got to kiss Sookie, whatever happens.

We gotta wait two weeks, but here’s a sneak peek at the season finale of TrueBlood thanks to True Blood’s Nest!

TrueBlood “I Smell A Rat” Recap : Heartache and Revelations

You know I am finally going to kiss you Sookie Stackhouse.

You know I am finally going to kiss you Sookie Stackhouse.

DISCLAIMER ***SPOILER ALERT!*** DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T GOT YOU’RE WEEKLY DOSE OF TRUEBLOOD YET. YOU MAY SCROLL DOWN TO THE END THOUGH TO CATCH A GLIMPSE OF NEXT WEEK’S EPISODE. FOR THOSE MORE SENSITIVE TO OBSCENITY THAN OTHERS, THIS POST MAY ALSO CONTAIN A VEILED EXPLETIVE OR TWO!!! I MEAN, IT IS TRUEBLOOD AFTER ALL!

Sometimes, when watching TrueBlood, I forget that it can’t last forever. Alas, only TWO more episodes left. Can you believe it? So let’s get to it…

“I’m a fairy? How fucking lame.”

This was Sookie Stackhouse’s first words after Bill revealed to her that her lineage lay with the Fae. Personally, I think it’s totally (f-bomb!) awesome, but, enough about me.

Finally! A revelation! To appease her dismay, Bill rambled off a few other cool names, but Sookie wasn’t thrilled to say the least. Bill also told her all about what he knew about the legends and the fact that he had met Claudine (not so surprising because Bill and Sookie share a blood link) and the whole stealing Sookie’s light warning was briefly discussed. At least now we know why every supernatural being within 100 miles of Miss Stackhouse seems to be drawn to her. I think Bill used the words intoxicating and delectable. He also told her that all supernaturals in existence believed the Fae folk to be wiped out of existence by none other than vampires. (Because they are so tasty, of course.) Well, that is an interesting fact. Explains why Bill was drawn to her in the very beginning.

And our boy did fess up, and I warmed up to him again. He admitted her blood is the most intoxicating and delicious blood he’s ever tasted. That was hard, but in the end, Bill did a bang up job of reassuring Sookie’s inevitable doubt about his reasons for being with her quite handsomely. And Sookie did question the veracity of Bill’s love for her. Doubt is a rotten seed, isn’t it? But Bill did sow those seeds, didn’t he? Is it all because of the blood? Bill admitted it had been at first, but now it’s her heart and soul and mind that he loves. The fact that her very existence in his life brought the light back, gives him hope and fills him with gratitude…*sniffle and wiping the tear from my eye.*. How romantic. He even offered never to feed on her blood again just to prove to her it’s not her blood that makes him love her.  (It was like a glimpse into the nuptials of their alter egos. Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer said “I do” on Saturday! Congrats to the happy couple!).

Although it was a lovely reassurance, Sookie still has doubts. And rightfully so.  Eric comes to Jason’s house and Bill answers the door. They leave to talk privately, leaving Sookie asleep on Jason’s couch. (You know she’s not going to remain sleeping for long!) Eric divulges that he knows what Sookie is, they briefly discuss the power of Sookie’s Fae blood, the power it gives vampires to walk in sunlight,  and the fact that Eric killed Talbot, which is why Russell snapped and set the vampire cause back a thousand years — and all this occurs conveniently just before Sookie interrupts Bill and Eric’s little tete a tete. Bill gives Eric a look of warning, and for some reason Eric heeds it, and you just know Bill’s still not telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Damn you Bill for playing with my emotions! After Sookie gives Eric a piece of her mind, telling Eric she’ll never give him what he wants now that she knows what it is, he says a cryptic farewell, hinting at his inevitable demise.

I do not care for Jason’s character arc this season. He seems like a bully and selfish and confused to me, and if anyone is turning dark, it is Jason. I can, however, see how the Fae blood is coming out in him. Explains why he was so good with the ladies. It explains why Crystal is so drawn to him. After killing Franklin and saving Tara’s life, I couldn’t help but think, will Tara forgive Jason for killing Eggs now that he saved her life? Does it cancel each other out? Well, the answer is no. First, he confesses his sins to Sookie, needing to remove the burden of guilt that weighs on him like the weight of the world on Atlas’ shoulders. But he is still racked with guilt, and Jason’s admission to Tara after sharing a kiss with her (talk about bad timing Jason!) just unhinged a traumatized Tara that much more. And rightfully so! She had been staying at Jason’s with Sookie, Tara’s last place on Earth where she feels like she can trust someone, but after hearing the truth she took off. Can you blame her? But now she’s out in Bon Temps madder than a hatter and a little unhinged right now, methinks. There seems to be no end to Jason’s impetuosity, bad decisions and general all around (f-bomb!) ups. He was also supposed to be keeping an eye on Sookie for Bill, keeping her safe from Russell and the weres while Bill slept, but while he was unburdening his guilt and admitting to killing Eggs to Tara, Sookie slipped out to see Eric at Fangtasia.

Crystal, Calvin, Jesus and Lafayette make a stop at Lafayette’s. Why? Because Lafayette decides to pull a Dr. TrueBlood to save Calvin’s life. Is Calvin thankful? Hell no! He takes off without so much as thank you kindly and Crystal follows him. Once out of earshot, unlike many fathers and daughters before them, Calvin freaks out that Crystal allowed them to give him “vamper juice”. Nevermind that two seconds earlier he was knocking on death’s door. Like many fathers and daughters before them, they argue about Crystal’s future and her obligation to her bloodlines. No surprise that she refuses to marry Felton because she doesn’t love him, and runs into the woods away from family, from obligations and essentially who she is. She’s hoping for normalcy, far away from a world where none exists. Angered, betrayed and obsessed with the preservation of pure bloodlines, Calvin disowns her.

Can you saw meow with a capital M?

Can you saw meow with a capital M?

Where does Crystal go? To Jason, breaking through a window in the bedroom and appearing to him in panther form. Boggled, Jason can’t help but stare as the black panther morphs into the woman he loves. *Sigh*. Par for the course in Bon Temps.

Sam has more than a skeleton in the closet of his unhappy past. He has two skeletons. It seems Sam isn’t as squeaky clean as we thought. We all knew he used to steal, but now there is no doubt he will get revenge if you double cross him. At least he doesn’t have Felton’s blood on his hands as well, much to the relief of his staff who look at him sideways the next day wondering when or if he was going to snap again. Tommy, however, is filled with pride, mistaking fear for respect. Sam is not impressed at all. Sam also takes a moment to inform the new girl Holly, who offered him some Wiccan medication, that there’s no dancing or religion in his bar. We all know why, too, don’t we?

Hoyt dumps a persistent and determined Summer and finally tells Jessica how he really feels about her. Fangs and all. (Way to man up, Hoyt! Hooray for you!) The question is, does she love him? Gripped with indecision because she feels like she doesn’t deserve him, Jessica doesn’t answer because she is speechless and Hoyt leaves Merlotte’s. Outside in the parking lot, Tommy appears and taunts Hoyt, and Hoyt, fed up with Tommy, gives Tommy a solid left hook. Getting up off the ground, Tommy shifts and attacks Hoyt from behind, injuring Hoyt’s arm severely. Jessica comes to Hoyt’s rescue, tearing Tommy (who she doesn’t know is Tommy because he is in dog form) from Hoyt and launching him into the woods. Seeing how badly Hoyt is hurt, Jessica at first must control herself and then she does what a vampire inlove with a human does when that human is hurt. She bites into her wrist and orders Hoyt to drink so it can heal him. At first he refuses, but after Jessica tells him that she loves him, too, he does latch on to her and begins to drink greedily. If Hoyt wasn’t hooked on Jessica before, he will be now. They are linked by the blood. Meanwhile, Tommy is spying from the bushes, and we all know he will be up to no good because of his attraction to Jessica. He keeps making moves on Jessica, and Hoyt is an undeniable rival. And we all know how Tommy looks at rivals. It’s in his blood.

I've had enough of you badmouthing vampires!

I have had enough of you badmouthing vampires!

Not only did Arlene have a confrontation with Jessica (and this confrontation makes Tommy even more enamored of Jessica) after making bad comments about vampires again, she also decided to tell Terry the baby she’s carrying isn’t his. Stunned, Terry took a minute to digest the news before comforting Arlene and being her shoulder to cry on. He reassures her that it doesn’t matter, trying to soothe her fears that the baby would be evil because it was Renee’s, and promises to surround it with more love than it would know what to do with. (You’re such a good man, Terry!) This does not comfort Arlene who is hell bent on not having the child. She goes to Holly looking for a solution.

Bill cautions Jessica to show restraint especially now and not track the bigots who vandalized their house and placed a burning cross on their yard.  Yet because Bill doesn’t follow his own advice and is unable to restrain his own anger with Jason because of his worry for an absent Sookie. Jason had been stewing in his own feelings of being a failure for not being able to keep Tara or Sookie safe at his house under his protection like he promised Bill. He didn’t need Bill rubbing taking him to task for it. Bill’s anger is like a match on the dry tinder of Jason’s humiliation and feelings of inadequacy, and he provokes Jason into a nasty rage.  Lashing out at Bill and revoking his invitation to Bill to be inside his house (Sookie told him this little tidbit) makes Jason feel powerful. He has forced a powerful vampire that he fears to his will. Unable to refuse, Bill is literally forced out of Jason’s house by the power of Jason’s rescinded hospitality. It was like Jason was a wild animal that had been cornered and proved he could be vicious if he needed to be. The look Bill gives Jason when he realizes he has no choice but to leave and that Jason isn’t as dumb or as intimidated as he thought is priceless.

Bill, it seems has alienated every human he knows. Tara can’t stand him, and rightfully so, and this fact puts Sookie and Tara at odds once again. It has come down to Tara drawing a line, fed up with vampires, and she breaks under the stress, finally telling Sookie what happened to her. Despite their differences, there is no denying that Sookie and Tara love each other, but it isn’t the first time a man — no matter if he’s alive or undead, it seems — will come between best friends.

After seeing the power of the blood right before his very eyes, Jesus is entranced with the idea of trying V. Which is shocking in and of itself because I thought he was so much on the straight and narrow that he was square. Well, he succumbed to the allure of the magic of V and Lafayette is a willing accomplice in Jesus’ experimenting. What begins as a good trip, turns frightening and we get a clearer glimpse of the story of Jesus. And here I thought everything was going to be smooth sailing for Lafayette and his love interest. I should have known better than to hope. It seems Jesus has mystical shaman bloodlines and they may just have summoned the devil with their little foray into the land of V.

How can you care more about Sookie than you do for yourself or me?

How can you care more about Sookie than you do for yourself or me?

Eric is brooding, and is busy making last wills and testaments so his affairs are in order when he is killed by Russell. Why he is so assured this will happen is uncommonly pessimistic of him, but I’ll run with it. Maybe he’s just being practical. I mean, there is a what — a 2000 year difference between him and Russell? I guess he just thinks it’s the natural order of things that he will not survive. Pam, on the other hand, is not taking Eric’s defeatist attitude well. Eric is almighty in her eyes, and she would do anything to save him. Maybe even go against his will? By reminding Eric about the depth of his feelings for Godric, we are shown just how deeply the frosty Pam feels about Eric. It matters not to Pam that she will be a wealthy woman upon Eric’s demise; but it does matter to Yvetta, and let me tell you, she is not a happy camper after hearing first hand that she will get nothing. Eric makes it very clear that she is worth less than nothing to him and then some, and no woman reacts well to being told she is a gold digging whore. Isn’t there a saying beware a woman scorned? While Pam is giving Eric ultimatums and showing her anger with Eric for valuing Sookie over his life and her own, will Yvetta be plotting an I’ll get even with you and get mine sort of betrayal? You never know.

I do know that Eric never does anything without a reason. He shows up at Jason’s to apparently talk to Bill and say his farewells to Sookie, (remember that little tete a tete with Bill that I mentioned earlier?) but we all know better. He knows Sookie is drawn to him because of more than the blood, and she is. She dreamed about him coming to her at Jason’s house, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. And though we know he is on one hand exploiting her curiosity about him and her attraction to him, we also know he has feelings for her. So when she shows up at Fangtasia, lured by his deliberately cryptic farewell, I believe him when he says he will regret it if he doesn’t kiss her before he meets the true death. Their kiss is passionate, filled with all things left undone and yet to come between them, and definitely not one sided and ended to soon if you ask me.

His reason for luring her to Fangtasia? To take her prisoner because he has a plan. He always has a plan. He wouldn’t be the Eric we know and love if he didn’t have a plan. Let’s hope it works, whatever it is.

You play Talbot and I will be Russell and I will be grieving OK?

You play Talbot and I will be Russell and I will be grieving OK?

Last but not least, we find Russell as crazy as ever. Not only has he given Nan the job of damage control and the Fellowship of the Sun a chance to crow I told you so, he’s looking for a temporary replacement for his lost love, Talbot. And he finds one in a sketchy male prostitute who is in the wrong place at the wrong time. (BTW, do you recognize the guy who plays the lost soul? It took me a moment, but did you have an OMFG moment when you recognized it was Navid from 90210?) Well, in typical twisted Russell style, he kills the poor hapless guy, staking him in the heart. No one will deprive Russell it seems of anything — not even the right to say goodbye to his beloved Talbot. Nevermind that it was a human substitute. That’s a small technicality. In Russell’s deranged mind, he was saying farewell to Talbot for reals. Yep, Russell has definitely lost his (f-bomb) mind. TrueBlood is a whole lot of fun, isn’t it Trubies?

So, Bill is still hiding something, and Sookie is Eric’s prisoner. She’s chained up down in the basement of Fangtasia, a collar around her neck similar to — if not the same one — that was around Lafayette’s neck once upon a time. Is there going to be a showdown between Eric and Bill, too? Well a showdown is coming, maybe more than one. Is my head going to explode? I hope not. I still have two episodes to watch this season! Here’s a preview of what’s to come on next week’s TrueBlood episode “Fresh Blood” thanks to True Blood’s Nest.

TrueBlood “Beautifully Broken”: TrueBlood Is Definitely Heating Up!

Eric and Sookie Season 3_Will they or will they not?

Eric and Sookie Season 3_Will they or will they not?

Hoowee! Tonight’s episode of TrueBlood, “Beautifully Broken” was AAAAWWWWe-some! All the story lines were exciting tonight. Last week’s episode had a wee bit of a leisurely pace. I was like, it’s going to be excruciatingly delicious riding the build up. But tonight was like a thoroughbred hot to get out of the gates! LOTS of new characters and all the story lines were delish!

My faves? Eric and Sookie, and Tara and Franklin Mott. Franklin is played by the wickedly delicious and devious James Frain.

The delciously wicked James Frain as Franklin Mott.

The deliciously wicked James Frain as Franklin Mott.

Remember him as Cromwell in The Tudors? As soon as I saw him, I knew this season would be GOOOD!

And what is up with Bill! Was his appearance at Merlotte’s a coincidence? Are his original intentions towards Sookie in question now? NOOOO! Say it isn’t so! I thought their love was pure! Sookie will be so disappointed if their spontaneous meeting was planned. Even though I’m fairly certain Bill didn’t plan (or was it THE plan? Hmmm. Diabolical and Machiavellian!) to fall in love with her, I’m getting the feeling his appearance in Sookie’s life wasn’t all that coincidental after all. Bill’s virtue is a wee bit tarnished in my eyes now, but I still love you Bill. I WANT you to redeem yourself!

Sookie and Her Boys_TrueBlood Season 3

Well, it will at least allow me to enjoy Sookie’s other male diversions (namely Eric and Alcide) while Bill is away a little more guilt free from this moment on. Love Eric’s flashbacks, too! It’s good to see Godric again and get a chance to peel back all of Eric’s, ahem, layers! :D I always knew he was deep! Could he have true feelings for Sookie?

Yesiree, Bob! TrueBlood is DEFINITELY heating up! Carbonated fresh blood anyone? It comes with a warm blood bisque with rose petals, followed by a fabulous blood gelato!

~P.S.~ And did you see Alfre Woodard? Stellar!

Robin Hood Reboot!

Russell Crowe in Robin Hood

Russell Crowe in Robin Hood

Is anyone else saying, “Yay!”? Well, I remember the old Robin Hood (yikes! that was many moons ago!). You know the one with Kevin Costner and that catchy Bryan Adams song. (Loved that song! So did everyone else who got married that year.) Even though I loved that film, not everybody else did. In fact, in some circles, Kevin Costner was panned for everything from his hood to his higgledy piggledy English accent. Unfortunately, his credibility as a top box office draw went into decline with Waterworld and The Postman. No Dances with Wolves either of them, though The Postman was waaay better than Waterworld. Sorry, KC.

I also remember thinking KC’s version of the man in tights (remember that spoof flick with Carey Elwes, Robin Hood Men In Tights? LOL’s!) was really good. I mean, what was there not to love? You had Robin of the Hood himself, his merry men and a love story between Robin Hood and the fabled Maid Marian. It was a movie about the complicated relationships we have with the people in our lives, and how events in our lives can lead to one defining moment. It had a killer soundtrack (I still like to write to that score), and great actors, and more than a few good laughs. It was a movie about bravery, courage, sacrifice, swashbuckling action, fable, myth and lore. You got some back story on how Robert Locksley became champion of the poor — which was very intriguing because Robin Hood’s origins were shrouded in mystery. Even now there is intense scrutiny as to whether or not Robin Hood actually existed. The movie spawned a whole bevy of documentaries about Who really was Robin Hood? Those docs spoke of an actual real Robert of Locksley and pointed to the fact that the bandit of Sherwood Forest could in actual fact be real. For me, a history buff, it just didn’t get any better than that. AND, Costner’s Robin Hood movie was romantic! I was 15 and I still existed in a dreamy fog where love conquers all.

Yet even back then in the tenderness of my youth, I felt that there was something missing. There was a part of me that I am only familiar with now that wanted more. How can I not get more when my dream cast is in this reboot of Robin Hood? I get some serious shivers of thrilled delight and anticipation at the thought of watching the synergy these talented people will create on screen! I believe Ridley Scott, Russell Crowe and

Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian in Robin Hood

Cate Blanchett as Marion Loxley in Robin Hood

Cate Blanchett (everything she touches turns to gold!) will give me the rush and satisfaction I’ve been yearning for in a Robin Hood movie. Why do I have faith? Let’s just say it’s because   Gladiator fit the bill for me in every way, which is another Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe collaboration. Was I not entertained? Oh, hell yes! Gladiator was gritty and honest and fierce, even excruciating at times, so I am hopeful for the same experience with this version of Robin of the Hood. I couldn’t define what I wanted when I was a kid, but I can definitely give voice to it now. History was a brutal place, humans fought hard for the civility we have now. When I step into my time machine and go to the movies, I want some truth in my epic historical fantasy depictions. I want to see the struggle, feel the pain and endure the sacrifice. I want to taste the triumph and revel in the glory. I want to feel like I was there. If we’re going to do a movie about rising up against tyranny, and the oppressed fighting for justice and equality, let’s do it then. Will I get what I’m looking for in this version? If I was a betting woman, I’d bet that this movie will be a kick a** Robin Hood flick! Not to say, however, that KC’s version doesn’t still hold a very fond place in my heart.

Anyhoo, that is my essay on my excitement to see Robin Hood. And to prove my point that there is still an intense interest in just who was this hooded hero?, History TV is airing a 2 hour documentary exploring the Robin Hood legend. Case closed. Robin Hood rocks. Can’t wait to see Russell Crowe’s Robin Hood break out that famous bow! Long live the outlaw! This is your Brighter Scribe signing off to watch the History Channel!

Will Spartacus “Kill Them All”?

Posted by Kyra on Apr 16, 2010 in Buzz!, Predictions, Something Wicked, TV, Word Of The Day

Spartacus_ausxipdotcom and Starz

Spartacus_ausxipdotcom and Starz

Knowing the show, it is highly likely. Like most, I have been most pleasantly shocked by the delicious scandalous-ness that is going on in the show Spartacus. Actually, I’ve been loving every minute of it. I tuned in since the 1st episode, however, I refrained from commenting on it here because I was so stunned. Quite frankly, I was at a loss for words. I hate to admit it, but I have been waiting for the moment when Spartacus will “Kill them all” with lascivious anticipation. And I KNOW I’m not alone, so don’t act like your shocked! (I think I’ve been spending too much time in shady ancient Rome!) I think he will kill them all….or most of them anyway. Ilithyia is in the ludus….I wonder what will happen there as she is one of my all time favorite villains.

Change Is Inevitable

It Wasn't Me!

It Wasnt Me!

They say a writer is tortured when they are not writing. I believe that to be true. That being said, more writing is coming and very soon. I have a very cool interview with Daniel Henshaw arriving very, very soon. Also, there will be some changes happening with The Scribe’s Desk. Not too sure yet exactly what or how, but rest assured, change is inevitable!

Also, exciting news on an upcoming book release! I am very stoked about that one!

More to come soon! Stay tuned!

Your Brighter Scribe…;)
